China’s commerce ministry on Friday termed Canberra’s shift to ban video clip-sharing application TikTok on federal government equipment “discriminatory,” expressing that it will harm international confidence in Australia’s company surroundings.
The remarks come right after Australia introduced the ban previously this week in the wake of the U.S. and other intelligence-sharing allies having comparable steps against Beijing-based TikTok, owned by ByteDance Ltd.
“We urge the Australian side to handle all sorts of enterprises fairly and justly, deliver an open, clear and non-discriminatory company ecosystem, even though creating a favorable atmosphere for the growth of China-Australia economic and trade cooperation,” an unnamed official from the Chinese commerce ministry reported in a statement on the authorities body’s website.
The formal claimed the ban isn’t conducive to protecting Australia’s nationwide protection and is harming to the pursuits of the country’s citizens and providers.
